Freedom of a Ship

She took it tentatively and wrapped her hand around the sword. She had to get used to the weight but she swished it around.

"How do we start this?" she asked.

"Like this, mate."He said, drawing his sword and pointing it to her. "Now, keep your grip tight on the hilt and swing, but don't turn your wrist when doing so, because that leaves your moves readable, savvy?"

She nodded somewhat uneasily.

"Right Captain" she said.

She pointed her sword out and swished it trying to get used to not moving her wrist. She bit her lip and automatically pointed it at him. '

"What now Captain?"

Jack grinned and held his blade to her's. "Now we see what you can do so we can improve on it, savvy?"He said, swooshing his blade downward at her's and turned to point the blade to her neck.

She tensed and looked at him in fear. He was not going to be easy on her so she took in a deep breath and moved back slightly lifting her sword with her left hand and hit the sword from under his grip.

Jack moved back and slashed at her blade with his. "Good, but we need to work on that, eh? come on me with everything you got. I won't put a scratch on you."

She looked at him and she was determined to do as he said. She channeled all her anger and moved.She knew statistically she was lucky she was a lefty for it was easier to sword fight with a right-handed person they were automatically at opposite ends. She switched her sword hitting the side of the it. She tried to make him move back so she could get some territorial advantage. She pushed all the strength she had, which wasn't so much, towards the sword and her stance had her right foot forward and her left back.

Jack hit her sword and countered the attack by forcing his blade down on her's and turning, moving his back to point at her throat. "Good. You have power enough for the blade. Now for footwork." He explained, readying his blade. "If i step here..."He took a few steps to the right.

She looked at his feet and when he moved right she copied his movements, taking a step left to avoid any contact and closeness which would be dangerous.

"Good. Now I step again." He took another step but this time to the left and thusts his sword toward her, making sure not to hit her.

She arched back to avoid it and moved right and taking another step. She decided to slid her foot to the right because last time she lifted her foot to move she fell out of balance slightly.

Jack grinned. "Still got a lot to learn, Love. Why not go take off that dress and i let you wear me hat and coat. Makes for far better swordsmanship, Love."He said readying his blade again.

She frowned and blushed shaking her head no.

"I can lighten myself" she said.

She slipped her hands under her skirt and tugged out some extra fabrics from the petticoat that gave her the poof. She then sighed and slipped if off completely. She then threw her slippers on the side preferring to be barefoot. She was not less poofy and would hopefully not sink if she swam.

"Offer always stands, Love. Well, if you're ready, let's begin the next round."He said, swinging his blade to her.

She sighed,

"Wait!" she groaned.

She slipped her hands on her back and slightly untied her corset letting her breath. She needed quick movements and corset limited that. She cursed the day that women were asked to much from them.

"Ready" she said and moved forward with more ease.

She lifted the sword once more and now that she was barefoot her footing was more assured.

"Ah, you're lookin more piratey already, love."Jack said with a grin and held his sword ready.

She smirked slightly and walked forward pushing her sword forward.

"Teach me more Captain" she said and clinked the sword to his.

"First off, always keep ready. Otherwise you can find yourself under a deadly counter."He said and twisted his sword aroun to be on top of her sword, pushing it to the ground. "Try to counter."

She was getting frustrated with herself. She pulled back and moved to the left, swishing her sword hitting the sides. Every time she moved forward he had noticed he would easily counter. She put all her force on the swings and was trying to push him back.

Jack blocked with his black and smirked. "Love, you can't just focus on the force of swings. The point of swordsmanship is to focus on disarming your opponent and or catching them offguard to finish them off."

She huffed and got angry. He wanted her to catch him off guard than off guard he would. She moved forward aggressively and pushed her sword in a way he would easily counter. She then lifted her dress letting her leg out easier and kicked him hard on the shins.

Jack stepped back as she kicked him and held his shin and looked up at her. "Ow. That hurt."He said, standing in position again. "But you left yourself wide open, Love."He said, holding his pistol pointing to her.

She frowned.

"I hate you Jack" she huffed.

She put the sword down and sat down.

"I can't do this, I give up Jack, you win" she said tiredly.

He holstered his pistol. "No one ever said the life of a pirate was easy, love. It's way one of me favorite strategies is to fight to run away." He explained and sat by her. He looked at her and placed his hat on her head."You'll get the hang of it in time."

She huffed as she felt her vision disappear as the hat landed on her head.

"I could just kick?" she muttered. "Captain, this shows I'm meant to be at land bidding over a husband and popping out children"

She laid down on the sand and covered her face with his hat.
